Bass & Pike Guide — Lake Champlain, VT

14 years experience

About Tyler Moss

Tyler Moss has been guiding on Lake Champlain for 14 years, covering both the Vermont and New York shorelines of this massive natural lake. Champlain is one of the premier multi-species fisheries in the Northeast, producing world-class smallmouth bass, trophy largemouth in the southern bays, and pike and pickerel in the weed beds year-round.

Tyler specializes in seasonal pattern transitions — knowing exactly when fish move from winter haunts to spring staging areas to summer structure. His clients consistently catch quality fish because he puts the time in during the off-season, mapping new structure with side-imaging and monitoring water conditions daily. He runs a 20-foot Ranger with all the electronics and tackle you need.

Latest Fishing Report

2026-04-01

Lake Champlain is waking up after a long winter. Water temps are climbing through the mid-40s and smallmouth are starting to stage on rocky points and gravel bars in 8-12 feet. We picked up several quality fish this week on ned rigs and hair jigs fished painfully slow along the bottom. The best action has been in the Ticonderoga basin on the south end.

Largemouth are still in winter mode in the weedy bays, but that should change in the next two weeks as temps push into the 50s. Pike are active in the Missisquoi delta — big fish are cruising the shallow marsh channels chasing suckers. A large swimbait or jerkbait fished along the grass edges has been producing.
