Full Review
The Carbon X is the best $36 you'll spend on fishing gear. Will it last 5 years of hard use? Probably not. But it'll fish great for 1-2 seasons, and at this price you can just buy another one. The carbon body genuinely saves weight — it's noticeably lighter than similarly priced reels with aluminum or graphite bodies. The 10+1 bearing system provides surprisingly smooth retrieval. The catch is longevity: under heavy use, the bearings wear faster than Shimano or Daiwa, and the anti-reverse can develop a tiny bit of play. But for the money, nothing else comes close.
